Is it possible, with an inflatable board, to obtain performance similar to a board made of composite material? Let's say that it is almost possible, all brands now offer solutions that are on the border between marketing and real effectiveness.
The Reptile Sports race program is based on three real concepts: the solid FUSION DOUBLE LAYER COLD WELDING construction, the exclusive rectangular section PVC edge positioned on part of the perimeter of the hull that stiffens it, and a scoop-rocker line coming from current composite race boards.
There is no question, the Sup inflatable Reptile I-Racer is our favorite board. Maybe it is because we are competitive, it may be that we like to go fast, but we put our soul on this table. We developed the I-Racer in three sizes after about a hundred models with different shapes and widths:
- I-Racer 12'6''x28''x6 '' ideal for the very young who are approaching Sup Race competitions and want a performing, rigid, light and affordable board. Very stable thanks to the square stern, fast thanks to the low nose, the parallel edges and the exclusive PVC edge that replicates the sharp angles of the composite boards.
- I-Racer 14'0''x29''x6 '' ideal for heavy riders who want to take the next step, have a Race board but not too complicated to manage. Also excellent for winter training, when the water is too cold to fall into!
- I-Racer 14'0''x26''x6 '' is the most radical board of the collection, suitable for expert riders, competitions, for those who want to get on the podium.
Construction
We have entrusted the construction of our boards to one of the best companies specialized in the production of high-quality inflatable boards. Reptile Sports is a brand that for more than twenty years has been involved in the production of windsurf masts and carbon parts of the highest quality standard, and everything we put on the market must have the same level. We created the Sup division almost at the beginning of this sport, developing, competing and winning numerous regattas with our high-performance race boards.
The material used for all our Sups is the exclusive Fusion D-Layer drop stitch, a latest generation material that replaces the old Double Layer. Less weight, the same stiffness, and much lower costs than many years ago, with an absolutely better product also in terms of details.
Equipment
The Sup inflatable Reptile I-Racer is supplied with all the accessories to be able to go in the water immediately, except the aluminum paddle. We couldn't match an aluminum paddle to such a high-performance board!
We have chosen for the Central Fin the best system ever, the US Box system, used for more than 40 years on all Wave windsurf boards in the world. In this way you can increase the performance of your board simply by changing fins, choosing the one that best suits your needs. The I-Cruiser comes with a 22cm strong Nylon center fin.
Inside the beautiful travel backpack / trolley you will obviously find the Reptile leash, length 10 '. Do not underestimate the importance of the leash, it is an accessory that can save your life and that of others.
The Pad of our boards is also of the latest generation. Diamond Groove, this is the name of the pad design, specifically developed to not stress the soles of the feet and at the same time never slip. 20% lighter than previous pads, it absorbs very little water.
All our boards are equipped with the elastic net placed on the nose, very useful to carry with you, in a waterproof bag not included in the package, any object that could be useful for your excursions, from shoes to snacks. You can also put your paddle in it in total safety during a stop.
Included in the Sup package you will also find the pump to inflate your Sup quickly and efficiently. The pump has the Double Action function, which means that to inflate the Sup faster, the pump will send air both outward and in return. When the pressure is high, just deselect the Double Action system to pump only one way.
On the nose of the board, we have also installed the attachment for the Go-Pro, very useful for all lovers of videos made with action cameras.
Finally, you will also find the repair kit to repair minor damage.
Shape
The Sup inflatable Reptile I-Racer has a mix of features that make it the racing board as excellence.
In flat water, slightly choppy, it remains stable thanks to its perfect length and its square stern.
In rough seas, on the other hand, it demonstrates agility thanks to the parallel edges in the rear area. The nose is slightly raised, less than the other models,tobe very competitive in upwind and dowwind.
